FAQ

  • what is Cellfina?

Cellfina is the only FDA-cleared, minimally invasive procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite in a single treatment. As a straightforward solution to cellulite, Cellfina combines a proven approach with innovative, patented technology, to produce precise, long-lasting results.

  • How does this cellulite treatment procedure work?

The Cellfina System treats the primary structural cause of cellulite: the connective bands woven throughout fat in the thighs and buttocks. These tight bands pull down the skin, creating the puckering you see on the surface. Similar to a rubber band under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back to smooth itself out.

Here at Coppergate Clinic, our cellulite treatment, Cellfina, will rejuvenate your skin, helping it to bounce back from cellulite.

  • How is the Cellfina procedure carried out?

As every client’s body, skin and goals are unique, a detailed consultation with a consultant plastic surgeon here at Coppergate Clinic is essential prior to undergoing cellulite treatment.

During the consultation, your surgeon will discuss any problem areas, desired improvements, options available (including no treatment at all) and expected outcomes from your Cellfina procedure. A thorough medical history will be recorded and photographs taken to document your cellulite treatment journey, from prior to post-Cellfina procedure.

Should Cellfina be agreed as the most suitable system to address your cellulite concerns, the procedure will be performed by your surgeon in our newly refurbished theatre. You will be invited to lay back and relax whilst a local anaesthetic is delivered to the cellulite treatment area.

A small, needle-sized motorised scalpel will then be used to treat the cellulite-causing bands just beneath the surface of the skin. Typically, patients require one single cellulite treatment session, lasting approximately 45 minutes.

  • What results should I expect from my cellulite treatment?

As every client and Cellfina procedure is unique, your surgeon will discuss the specific expected outcomes of the programme prior to your initial treatment session.

Broadly speaking, you may start to see the results of your Cellfina treatment in as little as three days. You should expect the results of your cellulite treatment to last at least four years – the longest FDA clearance of any cellulite treatment.

  • Is there any downtime after the Cellfina procedure?

Cellfina is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure with little downtime. Temporary side effects such as bruising, soreness and tenderness at the treatment site are possible but occur only occasionally and are generally short-lived.

  • What pre and post-procedure advice must I follow?

    Pre-procedure

We are governed by CQC guidelines which state a consultation must be carried out prior to any surgical appointment being booked. Your Cellfina consultation must be conducted at least 2 weeks, but no more than 4 months prior to the surgery.

On the day of treatment, patients are advised to eat and drink as normal. Eating something sugary such as a biscuit ahead of the procedure is also recommended.

Contact lenses should be removed prior to arrival at the clinic.

    Post-procedure

Patients should not drive for 24 hours after a Cellfina procedure. Therefore, arrangements for a taxi or driver should be made.

What is the best treatment for crepey skin?

With age, skin loses hydration, plumpness and volume, accelerated by exposure to environmental factors such as pollution and the sun's harmful UV rays. In combination, these age related skin concerns often lead to the appearance of skin which is ‘crepey’ in texture. Crepey skin can appear anywhere on the body, but is most often found on the inside of the upper arms and on the delicate skin under the eyes.
