Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) provides the ultimate in body contouring.

Liposuction has been a popular treatment for decades, providing excellent results for patients.

Lipo is a proven and effective method for removing fat from specific areas of the body, enabling surgeons to target stubborn fat deposits which are very difficult to eliminate with diet and exercise.

Power-assisted liposuction is a next-generation liposuction technique that utilises advanced technology to deliver stunning results with less force and more precision than traditional liposuction techniques.

What happens during power-assisted liposuction?

At the Coppergate Clinic, we use MicroAire power-assisted liposuction for body contouring and the removal of excess fat.

The MicroAire system utilises a thin tube, known as a cannula, that is inserted under the skin through small incisions.

The cannula is attached to a power-assisted device that causes it to vibrate rapidly, breaking up the fat cells. The liquified cells can be easily removed through the cannula, using gentle suction.

Key benefits of power-assisted liposuction?

Using a vibrating cannula offers several benefits over the manual liposuction procedure employed in traditional methods.

  • PAL provides a gentler approach, which is less traumatic for the body and results in less bruising and a faster recovery.
  • PAL has been proven to reduce surgical time by 35%. It provides the same result as other methods but does so more efficiently.
  • Traditional lipo is physically tiring for surgeons. PAL lipo results in 49% less surgeon fatigue and better results for the patient.
  • Power-assisted liposuction is more precise, providing smoother results and superior body contouring, even in smaller and more fibrous areas, such as the male chest.
  • MicroAire power-assisted liposuction yields excellent results on larger areas, such as the flanks, thighs, and abdomen. Traditional liposuction is less effective in removing large deposits of fat cells.

Which areas can be treated with power-assisted lipo?

Certain areas of the body retain fat that is particularly resistant to the effects of diet and exercise. These include the chest, upper arms, thighs, tummy, knees, calves, ankles and the area under the chin.

We use power-assisted lipo to remove unwanted fat and achieve excellent smoothing and contouring results in all these areas.

Is power-assisted liposuction safe?

Like all types of liposuction procedures, power-assisted liposuction is a safe and effective treatment with minimal risk when performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon.

Patient safety is our priority, so the PAL lipo system used in our clinic is FDA-approved and used worldwide.

The precision and accuracy of power-assisted liposuction minimise the risk of damage to surrounding tissues and blood vessels.

However, it is essential to understand that every surgical procedure carries the potential risk of complications, including infection and scarring.

Is general anaesthesia used for power lipoplasty?

Power-assisted liposuction is typically performed under general anaesthesia.

In some cases, local anaesthesia may be appropriate due to the size of the treatment area, and this can be discussed with your surgeon.

What is the recovery time after body contouring with Power Lipo?

Patients experience a quicker recovery with power liposuction compared to traditional liposuction methods.

Many patients book at least a week off work for this procedure, and it is essential to allow your body time to heal. Light exercise can be resumed after a few days, but avoid any strenuous activities until your surgeon tells you it is safe.

Initially, you will experience swelling and bruising, which typically subside within the first two weeks after your surgery.

Your surgeon will advise you to wear compression garments for several weeks to support the tissues and promote healing.

When will I see my new sculpted shape?

You may notice an improvement in your body shape after a couple of weeks, but you can expect to see the full results of your body contouring procedure once all the swelling has subsided, typically after approximately six weeks.

Are the benefits of assisted liposuction permanent?

Liposuction cannot remove all your fat cells, and the remaining fat cells still have the potential to expand and cause weight gain, leading to fat pockets reappearing.

The only way to preserve your new svelte physique is to follow a healthy lifestyle and maintain a stable weight.

Am I a good candidate for PAL liposuction techniques?

The best results are achieved on patients who are at or near their ideal healthy weight but still carry pockets of stubborn fat that resist their efforts with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Patients should also be in good health and have sufficient skin elasticity to optimise skin tightening after the procedure.

Does power-assisted liposuction help weight loss?

Power-assisted liposuction is a body contouring and targeted fat removal procedure.

It is not designed to achieve significant weight loss, and patients should have realistic expectations of what the procedure can accomplish for them.

If you discuss your body goals with your surgeon, they will advise you on whether PAL lipo is suitable for you.

If you are not an appropriate candidate, we can advise you on alternative procedures that may be more suitable for you.

Can power-assisted lipo be combined with any other cosmetic surgery procedures?

It is possible to use power-assisted liposuction in conjunction with several other cosmetic surgery procedures, including the tummy tuck..

How much does power-assisted liposuction cost?

Power-assisted liposuction costs from £ 4,995 at our clinic in York.
