Fleur De Lys Abdominoplasty

Whilst essentially the same as a full abdominoplasty, the Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty incorporates the addition of a vertical scar that enables not only vertical but also horizontal skin tightening to take place.

This addition allows for better upper abdominal tightening to be achieved and is particularly useful in weight loss patients.

FAQ

  • what is a Fleur De Lys Abdominoplasty?

A Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty, also known as a Fleur De Lis tummy tuck, differs from a traditional tummy tuck by incorporating the addition of a vertical scar that enables not only vertical but also horizontal skin tightening to take place.

The Fleur De Lys tummy tuck is designed for those people of normal body weight who have developed excess skin and/or fat where a regular tummy tuck may not address the upper abdomen and flank areas.

  • how is the procedure carried out?

Prior to your Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty procedure, you’ll undergo a detailed consultation with a consultant plastic surgeon. During the consultation, you’ll be able to discuss all aspects of your treatment with the surgeon, such as any problem areas, desired improvements, options available (including no treatment at all), and expected outcomes.

Should a Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty be agreed upon as the most suitable treatment, the procedure will be carried out by your surgeon in our newly refurbished operating theatre.

After careful marking, the anaesthetic is administered. The Fleur De Lys tummy tuck surgery is essentially the same as the full abdominoplasty with the addition of a vertical scar that enables both horizontal and vertical tightening to take place and sometimes includes the use of liposuction and abdominal wall tightening. The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic and requires an overnight stay in hospital.

  • how does the procedure feel?

A Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic to ensure the patient’s total comfort for the duration of the surgery.

  • Is there any downtime with a Fleur De Lys tummy tuck?

Showering may commence the day after surgery as the dressings that are used after this procedure are waterproof. We will provide you with any garments that may be required. Some patients find it helpful to sleep on their back with a couple of pillows behind their knees.

Gentle exercise may begin after a couple of weeks, slowly building up the intensity over six weeks. However, after an abdominal wall repair, it is advisable to avoid heavy lifting for three months.

You will be seen by our medical team for review one week after your Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty surgery and further advice on aftercare will be given. Our medical team is available around the clock to answer any concerns you may have in the weeks following surgery.

  • Do you cut my tummy button off and does my tummy button move?

The tummy button isn’t removed after a Fleur De Lys abdominoplasty, it stays where it is. It is the surrounding skin that is moved down and tightened.

  • What will the scar be like?

The scars will usually mature to pale lines. After a few months, it is fairly common for the scars to look red and lumpy, but this will gradually settle as your healing progresses.

  • How different is this to a standard Abdominoplasty?

The Fleur De Lys’ Abdominoplasty not only tightens the skin in a vertical direction but also horizontally, giving better correction of lax skin, especially in the upper part of the abdomen.

  • is recovery longer than a standard abdominoplasty?

No, recovery times are very similar.

What is a Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift?

Innovative approaches to rejuvenating the face have evolved over time and the deep plane facelift represents a significant development in the evolution of surgical facelifts.
