Professional experience

Mr. Holmes studied Medicine at the University of Glasgow before undertaking surgical training in Glasgow and Liverpool. He then completed a plastic surgery fellowship in Cape Town South Africa before return to the UK to complete his higher plastic surgery training in Yorkshire. This was followed by prestigious fellowships in complex breast reconstruction, skin cancer and cosmetic surgery at leading UK institutions, with a focus on innovative surgical techniques and improving post-op recovery.

Mr. Holmes’ main area of research has been in breast reconstruction. He has won an award for research into cosmetic surgery. His NHS practise is predominantly in breast reconstruction, most notably using one’s own tissue to recreate a breast (DIEP/Autologous). He has been part of the team that has established Pinderfields Hospital as a nationally recognised centre for autologous breast reconstruction. Alongside his post at Coppergate he has a busy cosmetic surgery practise at Spire Methley Park, with a focus on facial rejuvenation and breast augmentation.

Mr. Holmes’ approach to cosmetic surgery is based on the principles of quality, honesty and safety. He feels quality surgery should aim to achieve natural, smooth, healthy results, and avoid the commonly seen celebrity extremes. Honesty is about getting expert advice from a fully trained consultant working in the NHS with a wealth of experience in complex reconstruction.
