This specialised form of laser resurfacing uses carbon dioxide to create micro-injuries in the epidermis and dermis, removing the upper damaged layers of skin.
The damage is minimal but is enough to stimulate the skin’s natural healing process.
Collagen production and the production of new skin cells are increased, firming and smoothing the skin.
Laser resurfacing also has an exfoliating effect, with the dull, damaged top layer of skin being shed a few days after treatment to reveal fresh new skin.
The depth of the treatment can be tailored to address your specific problem.
CO2 laser treatment can be used on the face, neck, chest and the backs of the hands.
Our laser experts use this highly effective treatment to achieve dramatic results for our Sheffield patients on the following skin conditions:
Age spots, enlarged pores, lines and deep wrinkles.
Sun spots and unwanted pigmentation
Acne pitting and uneven skin texture
Stretch marks and coarse skin texture

We always use an anaesthetic prior to laser resurfacing procedures to minimise discomfort.
The type of anaesthesia used will depend on the depth of the treatment, and we use topical numbing cream, local anaesthetic, or general anaesthetic as required.
Initially, your skin will look and feel as if you have been sunburnt.
It will be extra sensitive, red, and hot to the touch for 3 to 4 days.
Your skin may also feel itchy.
The upper layer of skin will crust over and then peel off, revealing fresh, undamaged skin.
Your skin will start to show improvements within a few weeks, but the benefits will continue to develop over the next few months.
Your skin will be brighter, smoother and more youthful.
Laser resurfacing is perfectly safe in skilled hands.
The cosmetic surgeons at our clinic near Sheffield use the most advanced techniques that can target only a fraction of the skin, like a tiny scar, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected.
The number of sessions will depend on the size of the treatment area.
Severe acne scarring or deep wrinkles may require more treatments than other skin conditions to achieve optimal results.
