A deep-plane facelift at our plastic surgery clinic restores youthful contours for our Birmingham patients.
The advanced techniques used during a deep plane facelift ensure natural, long-lasting results.
Our surgical team is one of a small number in the UK which perform this complex surgical procedure, achieving consistently stunning results.
Sagging skin and drooping muscles are lifted, restoring the natural beauty of the face.
Why not book a consultation at our leading plastic surgery clinic to learn more about transformative deep-plane facelift surgery?
The deep plane facelift is an innovative procedure that targets the deeper tissues of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system to achieve long-lasting, natural results.
The surgeon releases the deep retaining ligaments of the face to allow the deep facial structures, including the underlying facial muscles, to be lifted and repositioned together without causing tension between the deeper tissues and the superficial skin.
Facial fat can be removed at the same time.
Traditional facelifts focus on tightening weak facial muscles and trimming away excess skin caused by the loss of skin elasticity.
This technique can cause a taut appearance, which is avoided in the deep-plane facelift.

As all the neck and facial muscles, skin and other deeper structures are interconnected, this procedure will create a face and neck lift, avoiding the need for invasive surgery on two occasions.
Sagging skin and slack muscles under the chin and on the neck will be smoothed and lifted. Fat under the chin and on the neck will also be removed.
The essential character and natural features of your face will stay the same, but you will have a more refreshed appearance.
Your skin will be smoother, with fewer deep wrinkles like the nasolabial folds; your features will be lifted, and your neck and jawline will be more defined.
If you are concerned about sagging skin and the signs of ageing are affecting your self-confidence, then a deep plane facelift may be a good choice for you.
You won’t need to decide, as you will have a consultation with one of our surgical team members who will assess your suitability.
The surgeon will examine your facial anatomy and your skin quality before deciding if a face and neck lift would give you the results you desire.
You will need to be in good health for facelift surgery, and your surgeon will take a complete medical history before recommending any procedure.

Your surgeon will start by making discreet incisions along your hairline and in front of your ears.
The incisions will be used to access the SMAS layer, the facial ligaments, and the underlying structures.
The surgeon will release the ligaments and then lift and reposition the facial structures.
Unwanted fat will be removed, facial muscles tightened, and excess skin trimmed away before the incisions are closed with sutures.
The procedure may be performed while you are completely asleep with a general anaesthetic or under sedation with a local anaesthetic.
Your surgeon will advise on the best option to ensure your comfort.
A facelift is often performed as an outpatient procedure with most patients returning home the same day.
You should expect some swelling and bruising after your procedure. Any pain will be controlled with prescribed medication.
Sutures will be removed after 7 to 10 days, but it will take a few weeks for your face to heal completely.
Your progress will be monitored at follow-up appointments.
Unfortunately, even the most talented surgeon cannot stop time completely, and your face will continue to age.
You can think about facelift surgery as a reset for your face.
Most Birmingham patients find that the deep-plane facelift restores the youthful appearance they had 7 to 15 years ago.
The longevity of the results will depend on a variety of factors, including skin elasticity, bone structure and genetics.
You will be able to control some factors like sun exposure, poor diet, and smoking, all of which will cause your ageing to accelerate.
The deep plane facelift will not address all aspects of facial ageing, and many Birmingham patients choose to have additional surgeries or cosmetic procedures to create total facial rejuvenation.
Deep plane facelift surgery does not target the eye area, so eyelid surgery may be desired to correct hooded upper eyelids and remove eye bags.
The deep-plane facelift offers the most benefits to the mid and lower face. Many patients choose to have a brow lift at the same time as their facelift surgery to give the upper eye area a refreshed appearance.
Dermal fillers restore lost volume, and many patients opt to have cheek filler to restore youthful contours to the midface.
Lip filler can be used to recreate plumper lips if age has made them thinner.
A facelift procedure cannot remove unwanted pigmentation or sun damage, but our Birmingham patients love the skin rejuvenating effect of our CO2 laser resurfacing.
