The excess skin and fat are mobilised and lifted from the abdominal wall during a traditional abdominoplasty procedure.
In the lipoabdominoplasty, the traditional procedure is carried out with the added benefit of liposuction to reduce flanks and re define the abdomen producing a vastly superior result.
Combining a surgical approach with liposuction results in a smoother and tighter body profile than a tummy tuck procedure alone, and our Cheshire patients are always delighted with their new-look bodies.
You can see some before-and-after pictures here.
The procedure is performed for our Cheshire patients using a general anaesthetic and lasts between 3 and 4 hours.
The surgical incisions will be made in the pubic area to lift and smooth the skin. The excess fat in the area is removed with VASER power assisted liposuction.
Your cosmetic surgeon will also tighten the stomach muscles where necessary and trim excess skin.
The incisions will be closed with dissolving sutures after the surgical procedure and waterproof dressings placed for 2 weeks.
Most Cheshire patients stay in the hospital overnight and leave once their surgeon has checked them.
Your abdominal muscles and the skin around the incision will be tender initially, so we suggest sleeping with a pillow under your knees to avoid stretching the tissues.
It is essential to be mobile after surgery, but gentle movement is sufficient. You should wait until your surgeon advises you that you’re ready to engage in vigorous activity again, which may take a few weeks.
All our patients wear compression garments for about six weeks after surgery. This support garment may not be glamorous, but it is essential as it helps with lymphatic drainage to eliminate swelling / bruising and helps speed up the healing process ensuring the best results.
The surgical incision may be red and bumpy for a few weeks, but the scar will gradually fade to a silvery line in most cases . However, scar appearance can relate to individual healing processes.
This surgical procedure removes all your loose skin, giving the lower abdomen a smooth and taut appearance.
All our Cheshire patients have a thorough consultation with one of our cosmetic surgeons before committing to surgery.
We always ensure Cheshire patients are fully informed about the procedure, recovery process, and expected results.
We will also take a complete medical history to check your overall health and ensure you are fit for surgery.

Skin and fat cannot grow back, but following a healthy lifestyle with a good diet and plenty of exercise is vital to maintain your new body.
This surgical procedure gives the best results for Cheshire patients of normal weight concerned about slack abdominal muscles, loose skin, and fat in the tummy area following weight loss or pregnancy.
It is a body contouring procedure rather than a weight loss procedure. Although your clothes will fit better after a lipoabdominoplasty, you should not expect to lose significant weight.
The cost of this surgical procedure starts at £ 10,600, but the price varies between individual surgeries.

Cheshire is a ceremonial county in North West England.
The county stretches from the lowlands of Merseyside and the Welsh border in the West to the craggy foothills of the Peak District National Park and Derbyshire in the East.
The county has many contrasts. It is known for its petrochemical industry but is also an important dairy producer, famous for its delicious Cheshire cheese.
