Is a lipoabdominoplasty the same as an abdominoplasty?
The excess skin and fat are mobilised and lifted from the abdominal wall during a traditional abdominoplasty procedure.
In the lipoabdominoplasty, the traditional procedure is carried out with the added benefit of liposuction to reduce flanks and re define the abdomen producing a vastly superior result.

What happens during a lipoabdominoplasty?
The procedure is performed for our Cheshire patients using a general anaesthetic and lasts between 3 and 4 hours.
The surgical incisions will be made in the pubic area to lift and smooth the skin. The excess fat in the area is removed with VASER power assisted liposuction.
Your cosmetic surgeon will also tighten the stomach muscles where necessary and trim excess skin.
The incisions will be closed with dissolving sutures after the surgical procedure and waterproof dressings placed for 2 weeks.
How long is the recovery period after abdominoplasty surgery with liposuction?
Most Cheshire patients stay in the hospital overnight and leave once their surgeon has checked them.
Your abdominal muscles and the skin around the incision will be tender initially, so we suggest sleeping with a pillow under your knees to avoid stretching the tissues.

All our patients wear compression garments for about six weeks after surgery. This support garment may not be glamorous, but it is essential as it helps with lymphatic drainage to eliminate swelling / bruising and helps speed up the healing process ensuring the best results.
